Joe Cracker

Where sports meats fresh food.
Port Charlotte, Fl

Nice place to relax...

--We went there on a Friday night and had a great meal and the staff was great!  Nice place to go and relax, watch TV and have a drink.

We like to eat local...

--We like to frequent locally owned establishments and were pleased to find that Joe's is locally owned and operated. Nice, beachy atmosphere with lots of TVs, if that is what you like, we don't care for TVs in restaurants but it did not detract from our meal. Other Yelpers recommended the fish tacos and the losbster mac and cheese. Large servings so we split the plates. Both excellent and well prepared. Lobster was generously included in the hot and cheesy macaroni. Very, very good.

This is our favorite place in the area...

--THISis our FAVORITE place to eat in the area, Food is very good and the service is great!  The grilled shrimp and the loaded potato are just excellent.  We have had the burgers - also great, as is everything else we have ordered.
HIGHLY recommended!!!

A must try...

--Seeking a place that was somewhere in the middle of our 3 hour drive from Sarasota to South Florida.  Fresh Catch was Tuna, however I would call to see what the daily catch is, because all I hear is the grouper sandwich is a must try.

I opted for the fish tacos, and I was very very happy.  They were stuffed with nice big Mahi filets and loaded with the Joe Cracker sauce and lettuce. The fries are those yummy coated fries.

The atmosphere was a fun beach side feeling, I forgot we were on the road after 20 minutes of being inside.  I love the big open windows welcoming outdoors into the in, or vice versa.

I recommend this little spot.  Nothing fancy back makes you happy. Good service and clean establishment.

Always something going on...

--We went to Crackers the other night and found a a great KIDS night!  It is hard to find this kind of Kids' night around town.  Most places just give free kids' meals.  Joe Cracker had hermit crab races where my son, Josh, bet on which crabs would come in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  He won some cool prizes.  They also had a face painter (Josh was a lion) and the balloon man made him a "flying rat."  The atmosphere was festive (despite the rain) and even Joe the Parrot visited.

After asking our server, Laura, what else goes on here...she mentioned they will be trying live music on Thursdays starting July 5th and that they have music on Fridays, daily deals and $9.99 bottles of wine!  I know where I will be on Wednesday...enjoying my bottle of wine while Josh is busy with all the activities at Joe Cracker!  Thank you!

--My family goes here a couple of times every year when we are visiting. We used to go mainly for the atmosphere but the last few times, the food has been OUTSTANDING! So we now go for the food AND the atmosphere (not to mention it's locally owned).

I encourage everyone to try the BURGERS - they are FANTASTIC! The manager told us they grind their meat every day now to keep it fresh! My mom tried the homemade pot pie and asked for the recipe! She thought it was the best! They also have fresh seafood. I like the fact that they carry Jai Alai on tap...I like dark beers. For those that want lighter brews...they have them too. Oh, and lots to look at (TVs). Good job Joe Cracker!

Just off of Rt 41, but it feels like you aren't...

--We have been here a number of times now, and it is a good non chain place to go In PT C, esp if you are at the mall as it is a good alternative to the food court.

The boys get pizza and burgers, husband and I get shrimp, ribs, fish sandwiches etc. The food os pretty good for a sports bar type place, and with 3 teen boys the number of screens is great. Service is usually pretty good too. You are just of rt 41, but it feels like you aren't. It has turned into a Go-to staple when we are in that area.

And yes, it is a 'sister' restaurant to sharkey's on the Pier in Venice.

We tried them again in May 2011 and I'm so glad we did...

--My husband and I visited Joe Cracker in June 2007... we had terrible service an opted not to go back again, even though they are one of very few "non-chain" restaurants near our home.

Well, we tried them again in May 2011 and I'm so glad we did. I recall the food being pretty decent even on our first visit, but on our most recent visit, I had a fantastic shrimp po' boy. It was spicy, but not overwhelming... the shrimp were perfectly fried. My husband enjoyed his burger too. The service was MUCH improved. On our first visit, it took an hour to get our meal in an empty restaurant... this time, we had our order in about 10 minutes. The server was prompt with refills and the hostess was very friendly.

We dined at lunch, but they have a great looking bar and lots of TVs... could be a fun spot to watch a game. I also noticed they did a special for kids on Wednesdays, I believe.

I like the tropical decor too... makes you feel "beachy" even though you are just off Tamiami Trail. Apparently they are affiliated with Sharky's of Venice, which while it has a awesome view, lacks in the food department.

I'll be back... wish I'd tried them again sooner!

The food, atmosphere & service never disappoints!
